New Developments in Nuclear Cardiology

Organised by IPEM's Nuclear Medicine Special Interest Group The meeting will assist attendees in keeping up to date with the latest developments in stressing techniques and imaging using dedicated cardiac solid state imagers. This will include discussion of optimal acquisition protocols, processing and reporting platforms and issues to be highlighted in switching to dedicated devices. The different stressing drugs available and their best use for patient safery and comfort and departmental throughput will also be discussed. The imaging of other cardiac diseases such as sarcoidosis and amyloid disease will also be discussed highlighting both Nuclear Medicine and PET techniques. The advantages and disadvantages of detecting these diseases using nuclear cardiology will be highlighted as cost effectiveness is a potential issue. There will also be discussion of the extra information which can be obtained by acquiring MUGA data tomographically and the potential pitfalls to be avoided.
